Hexen / Hecken
text, A4 paper, ink,
2015—2018
concept and production: Katja Lell & Laura Nitsch
The work Hexen / Hecken (witches / hedges) consists of a series of conversations between Katja Lell and Laura Nitsch, in which they try to explore the relevance of the figure of the witch for contemporary queerfeminist struggles. The foreground of the searched discussion is the collective memory work; a speculative exploration of the forms of life and subjectivities that were persecuted and erased under the term witch: defamed as witch in post-reformation Europe were those people the community wanted to get rid of - often older women, homeless and destitute people, queer subjects.
The work appeared as text, poster, paper sculpture and conversations.
